IR Strobe Light

When it comes to using night vision devices you mostly can only afford old Russian ones. However they are still good enough to detect other people at great ranges. Still identification can be a problem. Therefore I swiftly built an IR strobe light and integrated it into a boonie hat. Now you can see each other at almost any range immediately. Since it's IR light it's not visible for human eyes.
I already had some simple schematics on my hdd which were suitable for that task.

R1: 6,8kΩ, R2: 330kΩ
C1: 100µF (or more for increased strength but lower frequency) at the voltage of your battery
LEDs: 4 IR Leds in series - you can use more but the voltage drop of all must not exceed the voltage provided by the battery
D1: some random diode (with around 0.7v voltage drop)
Q1: BC 557 or similar PNP Q2: BC 547 or similar NPN


After soldering all the parts together I mounted 4 IR LEDs in a 90° offset on the boonie. The circuit fits in the sash also and can run from a 9V battery literally for ages.
