Projects - Overview:

Advanced Holosight
Holographic Displays are used more and more. They have been around in airplanes for ages
and some car manufacturers are also using them now. I was wondering if it is able to build a
really small one which I could use for Paintball e.g. I hooked up a Nokia LCD to an
Arduino Nano to display the remaining balls as a bargraph. Since I never used such
a LCD before, there is more to come... click here to read the rest
IR Strobe Light
When it comes to using night vision devices you mostly can only afford old Russian ones.
However they are still good enough to detect other people at great ranges. Still
identification can be a problem. Therefore I swiftly built an IR strobe light and
integrated it into a boonie hat. Now you can see each other at almost any range immediately.
Since it's IR light you can... click here to read the rest
Booze Lamp
After a bottle or two I came up with the idea of building lamp out of it instead of just throwing it away.
The next morning i grabbed my Dremel and drilled a hole in it, happy to finally use the glass cutting
attachment which has been laying for ages.
I had a little valve from an aquarium leftover that fitted just right. After gluing it in connected
it to an air pump and added some LEDs. Also I colored the water... click here to read the rest
How to unlock a Midland G7 to send at 3 watt
Most of the Midland G7 you can buy will have limitations regarding the power and
modulation you can use. But there is a quick and easy way to remove all those limitations:
You will only need a screwdriver and a wire cutter. Open up the case, but be careful: Both
case parts are connected with some wires. You can still take them apart, but do not pull to much.
Now take the wire cutter and open all the marked bridges... click here to read the rest
How to mod an ICOM plug to be Midland comaptible
Most of the headsets for radios are only available with Icom, Motorola or Kenwood plugs.
They will not fit the Midland G7, but the Icom Plug can me modified to do so.
You only have to solder a resistor (1.9k - 2.3k) between the ground and mic+. Also you
might want to add an o-ring as a spacer to the 3.5mm, because the midland uses 3.5mm stereo while
the Icom plug is only mono. So for Midlands you... click here to read the rest
How to build a sma socket into a Midland G7
The Midland G7 will be delivered with a fixed antenna. However Midland offers a sma socket
which you can use instead of the original antenna. It also comes with the flex antenna shown below.
Open up the case, but be careful: Both case parts are connected with some wires. You can
still take them apart, but do not pull to much. You need to unsolder the old atenna prior.
Soldering in the sma socket is exactly the other way around... click here to read the rest
